General Overview

Youth empowerment and participation

YEP is born with the aim of achieving structured transnational cooperation between the many youth organisations in Europe, so that a partnership built on the values of solidarity, sustainability, democracy, social inclusion and cooperation can be strengthened.
These needs have emerged keeping in mind the issues of social exclusion and intergenerational poverty of young people. Youngsters aged between 16 and 29 years living in poverty are 25.1% of the total, 18.6 million.

The share of young people at risk of poverty or social exclusion decreased by 3.9 percentage points (p.p.) between 2015 and 2019. On the other hand, it has increased by 1.1 p.p. in 2020 compared with 2019. This condition has carried out a significant increase in social inequalities and a reduction in active political participation.

YEP intends to create an international network between youth organisations, NGOs and public institutions with the purpose of making European youth a strong community builder.
